KOMETA

School choir of Gymnázium Vysoké Mýto

Kometa was formed in the last school year of 2009/10. The choir started spontaneously from the activity of several students who were practicing enthusiastically for the Christmas performance. There were 13 female singers at the time. January 2010 was a turning point for the choir because the girls decided to continue practicing together as a group even after the Christmas performance was over. Furthermore, a few new members joined, and “Kometa” was officially adopted as the choir name. The early repertoire has mainly consisted of various folklore songs.

In the short history of Kometa we can point out several performances in Vysoke Myto and surrounding towns. Kometa has also attended a singing competition called “Gymnasia cantant” in Hradec Kralove where a third place was obtained. The choir occasionally cooperates with other gymnasium students who accompany the songs on various musical instruments.Kometa is an optional school subject which can be attended by any student from Gymnasium Vysoke Myto.
